british shoe designers that are on trend in 2014

British shoe designers have really taken the fashion world by storm this year. With Stella McCartney to the left and Alexander McQueen to the right, it is no wonder stores worldwide are mimicking their pioneering designs. British shoe designers are sometimes ostentatious, but also highly wearable. Here are some of my favorites from 2014 so far.

1. STELLA MCCARTNEY REMOVABLE-CUFF FLAT CHAIN SANDAL

Once again, Stella McCartney has achieved perfection while using faux leather. The whole ankle cuff trend is huge this year, so be prepared to break out the fake tan after developing some funny lines wearing yours. I think these flats are stylish enough to jazz up a casual outfit for work. I’ve seen plenty of similar ones out there in high street stores, so get hunting! Stella McCartney is definitely one of my favorite British shoe designers.

2.WESTWOOD LADY DRAGON HEELED SANDAL

I know these shoes seem a little clown-like. And yes they have taken the whole jelly sandal thing into an adult form. However, that is the work of our beloved Vivienne Westwood! I personally don’t see these sandals working very well at the beach. Or in a swimming pool for that matter. However, they are adultifying the whole return of the jelly sandal thing, so I love them.

3.CROCHET EMBROIDERED PUMP

These pumps are opulent to the point of being painful. Who would have thought crochet could be so, well, sexy? Today, the late McQueen’s line is being led by Sarah Burton. It’s quite clear she is doing a tremendous job, and I can absolutely see why she was chosen to design the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress.

4. KAREN MILLEN SUEDE CORAL PEEP TOE HEELS

I love love love coral. I am so glad it isn’t going away anytime soon, because it is like that little halfway point between red and orange we can all stand to wear. Making the most of suede, Karen Millen has created quite the hit here. I love that they are peep toe too; it makes them perfect for summer.

5. SOPHIA WEBSTER TWINKLE TOES GLITTER SANDAL

I absolutely adore the whole ‘toes’ sign above the toes on these shoes! Almost as though us ladies are inclined to forget where they are. Or maybe, others are inclined to forget where they are. These twinkle toes shoes are so cartoon, it is hard not to fall in love with them.

6.STELLA MCCARTNEY WOODEN-HEEL CONVERTIBLE-MULE PUMP

The heels on these shoes are a little funky. In fact, I am not sure I have seen anything like them before. Thanks to the material at the back of these shoes folding down, they create a mule-like look. This is quite the cute twist on traditional boots!

So as you can see, British shoe designers are getting a little kooky this year. That’s okay, it’s always good to indulge in something unique. There are many smaller designers out there who are producing equally gorgeous designs, so keep your eye out for independent names at various fashion weeks. If you are a fan of a British shoe designer, who is it?
