Italian footwear brand Salvatore Ferragamo was honored on Monday in Florence with the issuance of a stamp, in occasion of the 100th anniversary of the brand’s collaboration with Hollywood and in recognition of its work.
Part of the series “Excellence of the productive and economic system,” the stamp was presented by the ministry of economic development at a ceremony in the main hall of Palazzo Spini Feroni, the headquarters of the Florence-based firm since 1938.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Ferragamo family, including matriarch Wanda, Giovanna, Fulvia, Ferruccio and Leonardo; Luisa Toldini, president of the Italian Poste Italiane, and other authorities.
The stamp features an image from the brand’s archive, a shoe designed for Marilyn Monroe in 1958, and a pendulum suspended on the plantar arch in recognition of Salvatore Ferragamo’s studies of the foot’s anatomy, which was fundamental for the construction of his models.
As reported, the brand has tapped Colombian designer Edgardo Osorio, founder and creative director Aquazurra, for a footwear capsule collection to celebrate the 100th anniversary.
