My shoe Diary 8

Hello my lovelies, how you all doing?
This diary session is on my most embarrasing wedding shoe moment and if you missed previous episodes of my shoe diary, don't worry just check here.

This particular story I will be telling is not something I will wish on any lady at all because it’s one embarrassment that could ruin your special day if you don’t have a strong control or grip over your emotions.

It so happened last year December we were preparing for my friend’s wedding, and so many things on the “to get done” list was in place but for shoes.


THE JOURNEY FOR THE SEARCH OF THE PERFECT SHOES

I already bookmarked some sites I was going to check for and buy the perfect shoe I was going to wear for the wedding but when I calculated the time frame to the wedding date to that of the shipping duration, I knew online shopping was out of the equation so my friend (the bride) and I decided that the best option was to make out a day so as to go to the markets in search of wedding shoes.

Speaking of which I was her chief bridesmaid so you guys can imagine the tension already right? *Pheew* alright let’s continue……………..So on the agreed day, we entered the market but already the day was looking annoying because it was sunny and hot and knowing my kind of person, I don’t do well with stress because when I get stressed out, I tend to break out which is usually horrible…..any ways moving on……..

So we entered the market and started moving from one store to the other in search of a white ankle strap for my friend and a champagne gold ankle strap for myself.

We spent more than 3hours going round the market in search of the particular shoes we had in mind but we couldn’t find and in between that we kept buying and munching on local Hausa sweets called ALAKAKOBO(don’t know what it means in English though) so as to drive the tiredness and boredom away……….….

 *let’s backtrack a little bit*

………..the thing is that the bride and her chief must bring their clothes, shoes and purses for inspection at the church before the wedding day and with that, we were given dos and don’ts on the type of shoes we must get such as:
 *no pointed heel, *no shine shine , *no beads or stones and *it should be kitten heel cause they don’t want it high so imagine the stress we were going through all because we were trying to apply the rules given to us.

I am a very picky person and coupled with the rules and regulations we were given already, it all contributed to us not being able to find something but still continued our search which ran into an additional 1-2 hours again. Mehn we got tired and decided to leave the market cause it was getting to closing hours and luckily for us, as we were about leaving, we sighted a small shop and decided to go see what they had and lo and behold without any stress from them we got exactly what we were looking for but we instead of the kitten heel, we went for longer block heels. I’ve never been a fan of kitten heels and would never be caught wearing any of these tiny small heel height….mehn what a relief and we happily left the market.

The truth is that I decided to go through the trouble of narrating the purchasing of my shoes so you will know and understand how I felt when the shoe decided to embarrass itself (I refuse to be embarrassed.lol)

THE WEDDING DAY:

So fast-forward to the wedding day…………. We all prepared from the house looking all fresh and fine headed to the church, My lovelies as we got to the church, I highlighted down from the car only for your precious Glowyshoe to take a step forward, then the unimaginable disaster happened……oh my gosh the toe strap of my shoe gave way……God….. I just stood transfixed, couldn’t move or do anything while plenty emotions was running through my head coupled with the fact that everybody’s attention was on the bride and her chief bridesmaid…………my friend(the bride) just stood and was looking at me with pitiful eyes saying “and we sewed up the shoes a day before just to be on the safe side and now this” me just couldn’t answer her cause i didn’t know whether to cry or to laugh but all I knew was that my friend’s day was not going to be ruined.

Luckily for me, some people rushed to my side, quickly unbuckled the shoe and ran to go repair it while my friend and I went to the office we were supposed to go join the other grooms for a brief rehearsal before we would be called to march into church. As God will have it, my shoe was repaired and brought back to me but whilst waiting on it, so many thoughts were lingering in my head like “what if the shoe could not be sewed, what will I do and it’s not like I had a backup shoe or something” well thank God it didn’t come to that because if it had, I think I would have marched in with slippers or say even barefooted……lol…… now I can laugh over it cause it’s over but rewinding to that day, I tell you it was not funny at all..

Moving on, while we were marching into the church, I was super careful and calculative with my stepping and all went well till the end of the church wedding and surprising I used that same shoe to dance and walk around during the reception party.

Have you guys had any embarrassing moments like mine?

The lessons I learnt from that day are as follows:

* Go for what you feel comfortable in,

*most times quality comes at a price, so just close your eyes and purchase that item,

*it won’t harm to have a backup shoe just in case..
